dr jazmin burns psyd

Dr. Burns, a licensed psychologist, is making waves in the field of virtual psychological and neurodevelopmental services. With her inspiring journey and dedication to accessible and comprehensive care, Dr. Burns is reshaping how individuals and families receive support.

Dr. Burns embarked on her private practice journey in December 2021 when she moved to San Antonio, Texas with her family. Her initial plan was to run a side practice alongside a full-time job. Licensed in Texas, California, and under PSYPACT, Dr. Burns opened a fully virtual practice to ensure maximum accessibility for her clients, specializing in psychological and neurodevelopmental testing for all ages, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD assessments.

But that was just the beginning. Dr. Burns soon expanded her services to include psychological testing for immigration and naturalization cases. With a growing demand for her expertise and a deep commitment to her clients, she transitioned to a full-time role in her private practice, allowing her to be more present for her family and achieve a healthier work-life balance.

Over the past two years, Dr. Burns has expanded her practice, now supported by a team that shares her values and priorities. Her practice boasts a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate (LPC-A) in Texas, two administrative assistants in California and Texas, and a certified yoga instructor/speech-language pathologist in Washington. Being a mother of a young child herself, Dr. Burns emphasizes the importance of family to her team who are also all mothers of young children/

In addition to her current services, Dr. Burns has exciting plans, including expanding her team nationwide and offering training sessions for families and mental health professionals. One upcoming event, scheduled for January 13-14, 2024, focuses on psychologists interested in immigration evaluations—a testament to Dr. Burns’ commitment to professional development and the quality of services she offers.

Just like any business, running a virtual practice comes with challenges; however, Dr. Burns’ innovative approach has succeeded. Her extensive background in the field and feedback from colleagues and patients have allowed her to create a welcoming, supportive, and validating environment for all involved.

Dr. Burns’ practice stands out for its diverse services, including social skills groups for young adults, individual and group therapy, yoga, postnatal services, speech therapy, brain mapping, job support services, and more. Her practice accepts insurance from Aetna, Lyra, and Optum and offers payment plans and superbills. What truly sets them apart is their ‘handholding’ approach to assisting patients and families throughout the process.

Moreover, Dr. Burns collaborates with various organizations and agencies, including immigration attorneys, regional centers, community mental health providers, and more. Her reputation for excellence has even earned her the prestigious designation of a “BBB Accredited Business.”

The COVID-19 crisis taught Dr. Burns a valuable lesson—virtual services work remarkably well for assessments and evaluations, even in complex cases like autism and ADHD. Her commitment to accurate diagnoses and tailored care remains unwavering.

Dr. Burns is dedicated to providing accessible, high-quality care that puts families and individuals first. Her mission to empower, support, and transform lives through her virtual practice makes a difference in mental health and neurodevelopmental services.
