Advancing Virtual Mental Health Care
We are incredibly proud to celebrate Dr. Jazmin Burns, PsyD, founder and CEO of Burns Virtual Psychological Solutions, on being recognized as a 2025 Legacy Maker by The Forttuna Group. This prestigious honor shines a spotlight on her leadership, innovation, and unwavering commitment to making psychological and neurodevelopmental services more accessible than ever before.
Breaking Down Barriers to Care
Dr. Burns launched her practice with a clear mission: to eliminate the barriers that so many families face when seeking mental health support. Based in San Antonio, Texas, she operates a fully virtual practice that serves clients nationwide. Through her PSYPACT licensure, Dr. Burns is able to provide care across state lines, ensuring that families who may otherwise have limited access can still receive high-quality, timely support.
Her practice focuses on comprehensive services—from psychological and neurodevelopmental testing for conditions such as autism and ADHD, to trauma-informed therapy, parent coaching, and even specialized support for immigration evaluations. By providing this wide scope of services virtually, Dr. Burns has created a model of care that is not only effective but also highly responsive to the realities of today’s families.
Why This Recognition Matters
The Legacy Makers program celebrates leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers who are making lasting contributions in their industries and communities. Dr. Burns’ recognition underscores the growing importance of accessible, tech-driven mental health care.
Her selection highlights her pioneering role in transforming the way families and individuals receive services. In an era when mental health resources are often stretched thin or limited to those living in major cities, her virtual-first approach is a game changer. This recognition not only celebrates her individual achievements but also amplifies the urgent conversation around equity and access in mental health care.
From Sacramento Roots to National Leadership
Dr. Burns’ journey reflects a deep commitment to her field and community. A Sacramento native, she earned her BA in English with a minor in Psychology before going on to complete both her MA and PsyD in Clinical Psychology.
Her early career included volunteering at the UC Davis MIND Institute, where she gained hands-on experience working with neurodevelopmental conditions. She later expanded her expertise through research, educational settings, and public health initiatives. Notably, she served as California’s Children’s Mental Health Champion under programs supported by the CDC and AUCD, where she focused on prevention, promotion, and building stronger inter-system collaboration.
In Her Own Words
“I started this practice because I saw too many families struggling to access the help they needed. Virtual care gives us a way to break down barriers—geography, cost, and stigma—and provide services that truly meet people where they are. Being recognized as a Legacy Maker is an honor, but the real reward is knowing that families are finding the support and answers they deserve.”
— Dr. Jazmin Burns, PsyD
